ABOUT THE JOB

The ACLU seeks a full-time positionofSeniorManager Planning and Analysisin theStrategyOfficeof the ACLUs National office inNew York NY or Washington DC(with a preference for NY).This is ahybridrolethat has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight(8) days per month. This is a two and a half-year term-limited position.

The ACLU works on some of the most pressing civil rights and civil liberties issues facing American society today. The Strategy Office supports the ACLU to advance civil rights and liberties for all through the development and delivery of a bold strategy with shared goals that maximizes our impact today and in the long-term. The office resides within the Executive Department which drives strategic direction governance partnership and avalues-driven and inclusiveculture.

WHAT YOULL DO

TheSenior Manager Planning and Analysiswill reportintotheDirector of Strategy & Innovationandtakedirectionfrom other membersof the Strategy Office based on assignedprojects.

The SeniorManager Planning and Analysiswilldriveprojectmanagement and implementationforlarge cross-departmentalprojects led bythe Strategy Office leadingprocess designworkplan management internal communications andchange managementstakeholder coordinationandevaluationand role is fit for people with a passion for process structure andcontinuous improvement.

Projects include but not limited to annual departmental planning and budgeting processes strategy progress tracking metrics tracking and evaluation annual leadership retreats and the coordination of cross-departmental external and internal reports.

This position will participate in meetings and discussions of a highly strategic and confidential nature handle highly sensitive confidential information including HR and budget data will liaise with staff regarding team and organizational initiatives and will create and manage the structure schedule and internal communication plans for related projects to drive their successful completion.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Manage annual planning process andidentifyprocess improvements based includesmanaging the workplan creating simple templates coordinating departmentleads and analyzingsubmissions.
  • Supporttheyearopen and mid-yearbudgeting processmanagingcritical data inputs with strong attention to detail andsupportingthesynthesis ofcomplex information into concise memos thatenabledecision-making for senior leadership.
  • Managetheprocess to track progress against strategic priorities sharing results to drive accountability and identifying emerging challenges opportunities and learnings for continuous improvement.
  • Managedata collectionprocessesandsystemstotrack and report on keymetricsidentifying opportunities forsystems and processimprovementtoenable evidence-driven decision-making at all levels.
  • Develop written memos andpresentationsfor senior audiences including the annual strategy and budget memofor theNational Board.
  • Partner in the design and preparation ofannual leadership retreatsby supporting agenda development speaker coordination and program contentdevelopment.
  • Inject project management rigorinto the Strategy Officeby developing consistent ways of workingprocess improvements and internal coordination strategies.
  • Develop relationships with other project managersand professional groupswithin the organization to share best practices and ensureways of working alignwith ACLUaccessibility diversity and inclusion guidelines.
  • Engage in special projectsand other duties as assigneddriving cross-functional initiatives from scoping through execution coordinating stakeholders removing blockers and ensuring on-time on-budget delivery.

WHAT YOULL BRING

  • Passion for process and structureandalearning and continuous improvement mindset
  • Exceptional organizational planning and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage large complex projects andprioritize effectively against simultaneous demands
  • Strong data management and analytical skills including extensive experience working with Microsoft Excel (e.g. creating pivot charts using multi-step formulas building simple financial models) andmaintainingcomplex data sets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability tosynthesize complex information clearlyand professionally; strong proficiencyin use of Microsoft Word andPowerpointto communicatecomplexconcepts
  • Understanding of change management and how tomake processes stick within a complex and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work proactively in an ambiguous dynamic fast-paced high-stakesenvironment
  • Strong interpersonal skillsandsoundjudgementthat contribute to acollaborativeworking environment
  • Familiarity with project management tools(e.g. Asana)and ability to support their integration into new teams
  • Projectmanagement certification is a plus

COMPENSATION

The ACLU is committed to equity transparency and clarity in pay. Consistent with our compensation philosophy there is a set salary for each role based on geographic work location. The annual salary for this position is $142694.00 (Level F) reflecting the salary of a position based in New York NY. Salaries are subject to a regional pay adjustment if authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
