Engineering Manager – Key Technology and Testing

Job Summary
Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager Key Technology and Testing leads a team of engineering subject matter experts for the research and development of highly technical and innovative fitness product solutions. The scope of work encompasses advanced development of new products product and component design analysis and design and creation of specialized test machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Personnel:
Assists VP of R&D in attracting and hiring top engineering talent
Provides work direction to lower level engineers trains and mentors staff in product development processes
Coaches engineers to achieve 100% of their KPIs
KT Engineering:
Lead a team of subject matter experts on multiple projects through Key Technology process for development of highly technical and innovative solutions
Support new product development teams with detailed mechanical and key component design review and analysis
Partnership with system electrical software and related engineering functions on failure and risk analysis
Product specification review and analysis
Test Engineering:
Development of test standards and procedures
Design and hands-on creation of test fixtures set-ups and related equipment
Participate in product safety review processes
Thorough understanding and application of regulatory and internal test standards
Obtain and analyze field and user data develop and execute test protocols for root cause design and verify solutions
Develop mechanical and electro-mechanical designs perform cost analysis BOM generation and audit
Perform detailed design analysis utilizing engineering mechanics FBDs FEA fatigue analysis and related
Train local and Asia-based staff on design and test requirements
Production support:
Lead team on analysis of field quality and product safety data enhance designs to improve products
Review quality and inspection data perform product sample reviews and make design decisions support value-add / value-engineer opportunities for cost and manufacturing efficiency
Marginal Job Functions:
Other projects as needed.
Education:
4-year degree in relevant Engineering field or equivalent engineering experience
MBA and/or advanced degree in Engineering a plus
Experience:
5 years Project Engineering or Project Management experience
5 years design engineering experience with plastics linkages mechanisms machinery (consumer goods a plus)
Demonstrated leadership abilities through past record of success
Strong knowledge of 3D CAD software and FEA tools
Ability to read and understand patents
Other Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel both internationally and domestically communicate with overseas teams during non-business hours
Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals
Ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers
