Job Summary
Evaluates and assesses patients to establish functional measurable goals to promote restoration of functional abilities. Provides treatment according to a written plan of care to meet established goals. Plans for discharge and communicates findings and progress according to professional licensure/certification scope of practice and departmental policies and procedures.
In addition to core clinical responsibilities the Lead Physical Therapist provides frontline clinical and operational leadership support to the Physical Therapy team. Assists the Rehab Manager with workflow coordination scheduling support onboarding activities and departmental communication. Serves as a clinical resource and ambassador for performance improvement to clinical and management staff while maintaining a patient care caseload. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
- Completes assigned goals.
- Evaluates and assesses the patient based on subjective and objective information.
- Develops a written plan of care.
- Provides treatment according to established goals on the plan of care.
- Evaluates effectiveness of plan of care and reassesses patient functional status as needed.
- Provides discharge planning including patient/family education follow-up and referral to community resources.
- Documents interventions and care in the patient medical record.
- Contributes to development of staff and students.
- Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery.
Lead Role Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day clinical leadership support to Physical Therapy staff.
- Assists Rehab Manager with therapist scheduling support and schedule maintenance.
- Proactively identifies staffing or coverage gaps and communicates needs.
- Participates in interviews for new hires as requested.
- Coordinates onboarding schedules and tracks competency completion.
- Supports orientation and training of new team members.
- Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to PT staff.
- Promotes effective communication between frontline therapists and leadership.
- Assists with monitoring compliance items (licensure competencies employee files).
- Supports departmental quality productivity and patient experience initiatives.
- Maintains expected productivity standards while performing lead duties.
Specifications Experience
Minimum Required:
- 3 years clinical experience or advanced training/certification in area of primary assignment
Preferred:
- Prior experience as clinical instructor preceptor or informal team lead
- Acute care and/or inpatient rehab experience preferred
Education
Minimum Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
Special Skills
Minimum Required:
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
- Epic and ShiftWizard experience
Licensure
Minimum Required:
- Current Physical Therapist license in the state of Mississippi
- BLS certification within 14 days of hire
