Job Summary
Position Summary:
The Cath Lab RN provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac and radiologic diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role supports physicians and technologists by preparing patients monitoring hemodynamic and physiologic responses administering medications and assisting with procedural workflows. Working as part of a highly coordinated team-based environment the RN ensures safe high-quality care through vigilant assessment strict adherence to sterile technique and precise documentation. This position also plays an important role in patient education recovery support and coordination of care across the full procedural continuum.

Physical Requirements:
The Cath Lab RN frequently stands for extended periods walks and moves between procedure rooms and recovery areas. The role requires the ability to assist with patient positioning transfer patients in coordination with the care team and handle equipment that may involve moderate physical exertion. Adequate vision hearing manual dexterity and communication skills are essential for monitoring patient status responding to emergent situations and operating specialized equipment safely.
Environmental Requirements:
This position works in procedure rooms control areas and recovery spaces where exposure to radiation (with protective measures) sharp instruments bodily fluids and disinfecting agents is common. The environment is fast-paced and involves high-acuity situations frequent alarms and the need for rapid response. Strict adherence to PPE sterile-field standards radiation-safety protocols and infection-control practices is required to maintain safety for patients staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive pre-procedure assessments prepare patients and verify clinical readiness in alignment with Cath Lab protocols.
- Monitor patient status throughout procedures including hemodynamic changes cardiac rhythms sedation levels and overall clinical stability.
- Assist physicians and technologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures by managing medications maintaining sterile technique and supporting equipment use.
- Document assessments procedural details medications and patient responses clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Provide post-procedure recovery care including monitoring education and coordination of discharge or inpatient transition.
- Participate in Cath Lab quality initiatives equipment checks and ongoing professional competency activities.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days ACLS certification (or achieved within 6 months of hire date)
- PALS preferred
Educational Requirements:
- Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where Degree was received.
