At Hills Pet Nutrition we are looking for a Vet & Field Team Leader to be the driving force behind our New Zealand commercial engine. This isnt a desk job. You will lead Pet Nutrition by leading a team of Territory Managers and a Customer Development Manager to deliver best-in-class results through clinical advocacy and retail excellence.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Country Manager you will bridge the gap between global strategy and local execution. Your mission is to ensure Hills is the #1 most trusted and recommended brand by veterinary professionals while simultaneously delivering best in class execution in the Pet Specialty channel.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving the 6PA framework (Product Placement Price Promotion POP Persuasion and Availability) to ensure flawless execution in every clinic and store. You make sure our field team are trained and calling on clinics and stores with the right coverage and priorities top of mind.

  • Strategic Customer Leadership: Supporting negotiations and Joint Value Plans (JVPs) with corporate vet groups independent clusters and key wholesalers.

  • Resource & Priority Management: Work with other teams to masterfully balance field team priorities across both the Veterinary and Pet Specialty channels to maximize ROI and market share.

  • High-Impact Coaching: Spending 50% of your time in the field moving your team from account management to commercial closing and clinical advocacy.

  • P&L Accountability: Managing budgets forecasting and investment with a growth-focused owner mentality.

About You

You are a Player-Coach who understands that strategy is only as good as its execution. You can pivot from a corporate negotiation to an in clinic discussion with a Vet or Vet Nurse without missing a beat.

We are looking for:

  • Proven Leadership: At least 5 years experience managing sales or field teams (ideally within Animal Health FMCG or Pharma).

  • Commercial Acumen: A track record of managing P&Ls and delivering growth in complex multi-channel environments.

  • Strategic Agility: The ability to manage competing priorities across different business segments (Vet vs. Pet Specialty).

  • Influence: Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to build deep value-based relationships with key customers.

  • Education: A Bachelors degree in Business Commerce or a related field.
