We are hiring for an individual to join our Cambridge Live-In Addiction Treatment team as an Overnight Attendant. The successful applicant will provide overnight support to treatment program participantsworking collaboratively with the staff team tofacilitateprogram related activities.
This is a permanent part-time (27 hours per week) position with personal days and vacation pay; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan. Schedule is Friday Saturday Sunday from 11:00pm to 8:00am (overnight primarily asleep). Option to pick up additional Overnight Attendant shifts in a relief capacity as needed and as available. Successful completion of a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) required pre-employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise the residence during the overnight hoursand ensure that program guidelines are being followed
Completebuildingsafety checks
Establish andmaintaina helping relationship with program participants while upholdingappropriate professionalboundaries
Complete administrative tasks
Maintain confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
Complete documentation and data entryinaccordancewithagency and legislative requirements
Assess complex situations and makingappropriate decisionsindependently with minimal supervision and as part of a teamincluding crisis intervention riskassessmentand safety planning
Provide crisis and life skills support
Support with medication processes including communication with pharmacies and doctorsreviewingand creating necessary medication documents and providing access to medication
Support onboarding and training of new team members
Job Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Sensitivity to and knowledge of issues relating to andimpactingon all genders and marginalized populations
Strong understanding of interpersonal skills and the ability to engage in meaningful conversations to develop rapport with individuals who use drugsusing a strength-based approach
Demonstrated capacity foraccurateand efficient documentation and computer data entry
Demonstrated ability to calmly problem-solve in a fast-pacedsometimes stressful environment
Good communicationskills and strong listening skills
Knowledge of and training in substance use includingassociated health risks
Commitment to ongoing professional development and training
Abilityto accept and apply feedback and take initiative
Education/Experience:
MinimumGrade 12 high schoolrequired
Previousexperience in a social service setting is considered an asset
Knowledge and understanding of the complexities of substances problematic substanceuseand recovery-oriented interventions is considered an asset

Rate of Pay:
At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of grades and we base our payment structure on internal determining rate of pay a candidates past related experience will be taken into consideration.

Min: $22.08
Mid: -
Max: $23.98
Working Conditions:
This is primarily an overnight asleep role
However staff will provide support to participants as needed
Works as sole staff on some shifts
Required to work intensively with program participants in emotionally charged situations
Required to assess situations and make decisions under pressure with minimal supervision or while working alone
Must remain at the facility for meal and other breaks
Intensive contact with program participantsrequired
Encountering participants at program sites under the influence ofalcohol or other drugs and/or experiencingsymptoms of mental illness can be expected
