Reporting to the Production Supervisor the Equipment Operator is responsible for maintaining a continuous supply of product to the Dry Prep hopper to support the Wet Prep area and dryers. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient production flow while adhering to all safety sanitation and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail communication skills and a commitment to a clean and safe work environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Product Flow & Support
Maintain a constant supply of onions to the wet prep area by keeping the hopper full.
Verify and schedule trailer movement for the unloading area.
Complete weight certificates after verifying trailer weight.
Complete sample tickets and deliver bucket samples to the grade-out shed.
Complete the Raw Material Receiving/Inventory checklist throughout the shift.
Inform the Line Operator of any change in contract number.
Sanitation & Housekeeping
Maintain a clean safe and sanitary work environment at all times.
Keep the RMR area wet waste trailer area trailer staging area and nearby building entrance clean.
Empty wet waste hoppers as needed.
Empty and clean the dewatering screen before the end of each shift or as required.
On sanitation days:
Wash and clean dry prep and wet prep areas.
Wash dryer coils.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Ensure all equipment checks are completed prior to operation.
Verify fuel levels on equipment such as forklifts front-end loaders and yard trucks.
Ensure tools and equipment are stored in designated areas during and after each shift.
Report any safety concerns damaged equipment or mechanical issues to the Lead or Supervisor promptly.
Teamwork & Communication
Support team members in the dehydration department as needed.
Assist Dehydration (Dehy) with inspection and sanitation tasks.
Communicate effectively with coworkers Leads and Supervisors.
Other Duties
This position is not limited to the duties listed. Responsibilities may be changed expanded reduced or removed to meet business needs.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements
Ability to operate required equipment including forklift front-end loader and yard truck.
Successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck Certification Training (or ability to obtain).
Ability to bend climb lift and stoop as needed for job duties.
Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently throughout the shift.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction effectively.
Ability to work overtime when required.
Ability to work in a dusty fast-paced and noisy production environment.
Ability to work well in a team-driven atmosphere.
Understanding of GMPs and safety regulations.
Ability to wear all required PPE including hard hat gloves eye protection ear plugs and steel-toed/non-slip footwear.
