| Job Summary: |
In addition to core Park Ranger Duties this position exist to Coordinate the Volunteer Program at Catalina State Park. Under the supervision of the Park Manager and in collaboration with other Park Rangers that supervise the park the Coordinator will ensure volunteers are adequately trained and effectively assigned to meet the needs of the park. This position is accountable for hiring training and managing volunteers. Also for creating and maintaining volunteer records and reports associated with the Volunteer Program.
| Job Duties: |
Management of the Catalina State Park Volunteer Program:
- Is responsible for the decisions concerning the quality of the program operations and the appropriate use of volunteer staff.
- Duties include: recruiting screening training coaching advising and evaluating volunteers.
- Includes program development specific to Agency and Catalina State Park policies and procedures.
- Requires coordination with Park Managers for effective use of volunteers in all units of the park with direct supervision.
- Collects and analyzes volunteer data and coordinates with the Agency Volunteer Manager.
- Responsible for the generation of detailed reports need by the park and the statewide volunteer program manager.
- Authority to plan Coordinate and implement volunteer work schedules: including site allocations work assignments weekly and daily scheduling support as needed.
- Meets with volunteers on a regular basis to ensure comprehension of agency policies and park procedures.
- Takes corrective action as needed to ensure a high level of internal and external customer service is provided by all volunteers
Customer Service:
- Provides customer service by phone and in-person and respond to publics inquires about park hours accommodations reservations.
Cash Handling:
- Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.
Maintaining duties:
- Maintains campgrounds picnic areas trails and/or other recreational site to include litter removal trail maintenance hauling debris.
- Maintains all restrooms in clean sanitary conditions.
- Maintains inspects repairs all park building for any problems or hazards; performs improvement and repair projects while following maintenance standards.
Public & Staff Safety:
- Promote the safety of park visitors and enforces Park rules and protect Park resources.
- Utilizes two-way radio communications system.
- Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers.
- Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.

| Selective Preference(s): |
Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger II. A Bachelors degree in Park Management Forestry Natural Resource Management History Archaeology Geology Ecology Recreation Planning or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience. Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) may be substitute.
| Pre-Employment Requirements: |
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Drivers license appropriate to assignment.
First Aid/CPR/AED within 90 days.
