Bealings School are seeking a Caretaker to ensure that the school is maintained in a clean safe secure and welcoming condition for pupils staff and visitors. The role combines cleaning duties with general premises maintenance and site responsibilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• carrying out daily cleaning of classrooms offices corridors toilets and communal areas
• sweeping mopping vacuuming and polishing floors as appropriate
• emptying bins and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly
• cleaning surfaces fixtures and fittings to a high standard
• replenishing consumables such as soap paper towels and toilet rolls
• reporting any cleaning supply shortages
• undertaking deep cleans throughout the year.

Premises and Site Duties:

• opening and/or closing the school site as required
• ensuring the security of the building including locking doors and windows
• conducting regular checks of the premises to identify maintenance issues
• carrying out basic repairs and maintenance tasks where appropriate
• monitoring heating lighting and alarm systems
• ensuring outdoor areas are tidy and safe (including litter picking and basic grounds upkeep).

Health and Safety:

• follow all school health and safety procedures
• ensure safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• report hazards damage or concerns promptly
• assist with fire safety checks and emergency procedures.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good attention to detail
• Reliable punctual and trustworthy
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices
• Willingness to undertake both cleaning and maintenance tasks

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Basic DIY or maintenance skills
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and materials
