New Skill Centre are seeking a Teacher of Psychology and Sociology who can deliver GCSE level education to pupils aged 16 - 19. You will need to possess qualified teacher status.

We welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced teachers. You must have a passion for wanting to help transform the lives of young people and be part of a growing vibrant successful and experienced staff team.

The New Skill Centre is an Independent Special School catering for the needs of young people aged 11 to 19 years old who are academically capable of achieving GCSES and other level 1 and 2 qualifications. All our students are gentle by nature and have an EHCP with identified SEND needs. Class sizes typically consist of 4 - 6 students with experienced HLTAs in support. The applicant will have experience or willingness to develop knowledge of SEND and the ability to adapt teaching practice to meet individual needs of all students.

You will:

  • fulfil all professional responsibilities of a teacher and those outlined in the attached job description

  • demonstrate consistent delivery of high-quality teaching improving progress and achievement for all students.

  • Qualified Teacher Status

  • An Appropriate degree

  • Demonstratable teaching experience

About us

Our most recent OFSTED inspection took place in June 2025 and we were rated with an overall outcome of Good. Pupil places are commissioned via Suffolk LA. The young people who attend the setting are working towards achieving qualifications ranging from Entry Level to GCSE and above.
