Job Summary

Position Title: Student Counselor Department: Administration

Classification: Non-Exempt/Part-Time Reports To: Head of School

Position Summary: The Student Advocate is responsible for building rapport with students and serving as their advocate. The Student Advocate will encourage students with respect to their various needs and challenges and seek to provide biblical clarity and discernment on this everchanging world and on personal struggles. As these responsibilities suggest the primary focus of the Student Advocate is not academic but personal and relational which may include academic struggles but not academic tutoring.

Job Duties:

  • Meet individually with students.
  • Engage with parents and school community.
  • Follow all protocols for a part-time employee while on campus including checking in and out as well as submitting hourly time sheets.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to students and families for external counseling and other services as needed.
  • Maintains a friendly and personable demeanor.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion while maintaining all federal and state compliance.
  • Commitment to regular attendance and shift scheduling if needed.
  • Compliance with all job requirements and conduct as stated in the Faculty/Staff Handbook.
  • Agreement with the CSD Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision.
  • This position is a part-time non-exempt position that requires regular shift scheduling and time sheet entry.
  • Activities could include walking standing bending kneeling lifting finger dexterity grasping repetitive motions talking hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
  • Working predominately at a desk or engaged in one-on-one interactions with members of the school community.

Minimum Educational Background: Actively seeking counseling credentials and licensure.

Previous Related Experience: Previous school counseling experience is preferred.
