The School District of Clayton is seeking Early Childhood Educators to work at the Districts Family Center. The position requires working with children aged 15 months to five years. The Early Childhood Education program is a developmentally appropriate curriculum incorporating principles of constructivist education project work and inspirations from the EC programs of Reggio Emilia.
The successful candidate:
- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques strategies materials and technology to maximize the learning of each child individually and in group settings.
- Conducts ongoing parent-teacher contacts and communications including parent-teacher dialogues.
- Regularly assesses student progress providing students and parents with feedback and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
- Participates in IEP conferences as necessary.
- Teaches the district early childhood curriculum as outlined in the curriculum binder.
- Designs and maintains an attractive orderly and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning parent involvement and building a sense of community.
- Reads discusses and uses current developments in the field of early childhood education.
- Supervises practicum students.
- Attends and participates in team and full family center staff meetings.
- Works with specialists inside and outside the classroom.
- Teaches students social-emotional skills needed to participate in a group in a school setting.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
Education:A minimum of a Bachelors degree in education with emphasis in early childhood education is preferred.
Certification: A Missouri Teaching Certificate or eligibility for a teaching certificate is preferred; or must be eligible for and obtain a substitute certificate.
Experience:Prior teaching experience at the early childhood level preferred.
