Job Summary
Overview
The Wholesale Portfolio Management Officer is responsible for underwriting managing and growing a credit portfolio while ensuring compliance with CNB policies. This role combines analytical credit expertise with proactive portfolio management to identify risks early and maintain asset quality. The PM also plays a key role in supporting renewals extensions and credit-related cross-sell opportunities. The PM builds strong client relationships through face-to-face (FTF) engagement identifies opportunities for cross-selling leverages analytics for decision-making and collaborates with RMs Portfolio Risk Officers Credit Specialists CSAs Loan Operations and other internal partners.
What Youll Do:
- Drive end-to-end ownership of assigned portfolio; anticipate upcoming actions and ensure timely completion.
- Analyze credit trends and portfolio metrics to identify emerging risks and ensure compliance with the Banks credit risk policies and regulatory standards.
- Manage financial tickler records daily through the nCino Covenant Management platform ensuring timely collection and escalation of exceptions.
- Prepare detailed covenant waiver memoranda credit approval documentation and Watch List action plans with a focus on asset quality and recovery.
- Participate in reviews and examinations conducted by auditors bank examiners or internal loan review teams.
- Conduct annual reviews and covenant tests.
- Collect and analyze borrower financials to assess performance and recommend covenant waivers when applicable.
- Validate data accuracy for CECL and ALR reporting.
- Maintain accurate records documentation and reporting aligned with the Banks risk and compliance frameworks.
- Engage with clients directly through face-to-face meetings to discuss credit structures covenant compliance and financial performance.
- Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers to build rapport assess business needs and deepen client relationships.
- Serve as a trusted credit partner translating financial insights into actionable recommendations that support both the clients growth and the Banks credit strategy.
- Initiate renewals 150 days before maturity; ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Partner with RMs and Loan Operations to coordinate renewals approvals and bookings.
- Underwrite loans and produce CAMs for extensions/modifications for existing clients in the portfolio.
- Manage renewal and extension pipelines proactively addressing bottlenecks or delays.
- Order appraisals insurance and environmental reviews; manage vendor deliverables.
- Partner with RMs to prepare for client meetings and support client engagement (target 80% of TCE FTF meetings).
- Use portfolio insights (EWS ALR pipeline data) to identify credit and deposit-related cross-sell opportunities.
- Build borrower trust to support independent credit discussions and deepen relationships.
- Provide data-driven insights to RMs and leadership on concentrations industry exposure and emerging risks.
- Work cross-functionally with Relationship Managers Portfolio Risk Officers Credit Specialists Loan Operations and other internal partners.
- Provide timely updates to the Risk Director and RMs on credit exceptions delinquent items and potential relationship opportunities.
- Execute ad hoc projects and risk-related analyses as assigned by the Risk Director or their designee.
Qualifications
- Credit Training: Completion of formal credit training preferred.
- 10 years with demonstrated expertise in complex credit portfolios.
- Critical Competencies & Skills:
- Strong understanding of credit risk principles financial analysis and underwriting standards.
- Proficiency with nCino Microsoft Office and Salesforce/Elevate.
- Familiarity with banking products lending structures and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to build trust and credibility through Face to Face (in person) meetings and consultative interactions.
- Strong negotiation presentation and communication skills.
- Critical thinking to evaluate risk/reward scenarios.
- Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving analysis
- Effective partnership with Relationship Managers and internal stakeholders.
- Mentoring junior credit analysts and supporting team development.

Education
- Bachelors Degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration Economics.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
