Job Summary

This position is for the full academic year. THIS POSITION IS FOR UPPERCLASSMEN ONLY. FRESHMEN ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR DEPARTMENT POSITIONS.

Expected hours of work per week: 10-20

Work Location & Hours: Various campus locations / 8am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Qualifications for Position:

  • Some experience in carpentry/painting with a basic knowledge of building structures and tools of the trade.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to relate to others in a cooperative and courteous manner.
  • Physical requirements
    • Able to lift 30 lbs on a regular basis
    • Able to stoop and bend
    • Able to stand for extended periods
    • No allergies to paints glues etc.
    • Be able to work on ladders
    • Able to navigate uneven terrain.
    • Be able to distinguish between colors and have sufficient hearing to work safely and cooperatively.

Expected Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work with and assist the Building Maintenance Technicians in their daily duties.
  • Consider the other staff faculty and residents we serve by practicing cleanliness and orderliness in all work areas.
  • Observe needed repairs/damages across campus and report them utilizing the Asset Essentials work request system.
  • Be able to work with other shops including plumbing HVAC electrical and mechanical when needed.
  • Responsible for following instructions and seeking clarification when needed.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Communication in the form of responding to emails and work orders and communicating the status of tasks and projects.
