Job Summary

Summary:
The Supervisor Science K-5 is responsible for the planning and oversight of the science curriculum for grades K-5 and works with regional superintendents coaches principals assistant principals and science teachers.

SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel inone or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction coordination andevaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the districtspolicies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and trainingemployees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipliningemployees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities:

- Works cooperatively with school and district personnel in the development of standards-basedcurriculum implementation models for K-5 science.

- Assesses the effectiveness student achievement and instructional delivery of the K-5 sciencecurriculum.

- Assists administrative supervisory and site-based personnel to develop and implementinstructional programs demonstrate appropriate teaching methods use of materials monitorcurriculum and identify instructional materials.

- Serves as an advocate for the specified site and/or program/project at the district-level and as aliaison between the district site and the community.

- Provides curricular and/or program support and assistance to district staff site administratorsteachers instructional coaches resource teachers and other site-based personnel.

- Provides relevant professional development workshops and/or training programs to assistappropriate instructional staff in updating their skills and increasing their knowledge base.

- Attends relevant meetings including professional conferences and chairs or serves on committeesrelated to appropriate academic area programs/projects and/or specified curriculum.

- Provides on-site support to administrators with teacher observations and evaluations programimplementation and evaluation of program effectiveness.

- Assists in the objective evaluation of both established and innovative programs to assess theeffectiveness of materials the methodology used in the program and the educational growth ofthe learner.

- Assists district staff and site personnel in interpreting student test scores and recommendingprescriptive materials and techniques to improve student performance.

- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Education: Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred. Degree in educational leadership administration/supervision or related field preferred.

Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in education or project management related field with three (3) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership School Principal or Administration and Supervision preferred.
