Job Summary
Road Science is New Zealands leading designer and supplier of bitumen and bitumen-based products. We have world-class manufacturing plants and storage facilities for bitumen emulsions and polymer-modified binders. Road Science has five IANZ-accredited civil engineering laboratories and a number of project-specific mobile laboratories.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and technical-minded individual to join our team.
This role will predominantly be placed in our Christchurch McLeans Island branch but will require a significant amount of travel throughout New Zealand and the Pacific to service mobile laboratories in these geographical regions.

Based from the Christchurch Road Science Laboratory you will provide testing and technical support services ensuring the integrity of construction materials used by our operational teams across New Zealand and the Pacific. This includes testing products such as asphalt construction aggregates and soils to ensure quality industry standards and customer specifications are met. The role spans laboratory work field testing and pavement investigations offering strong variety and handson experience.
The role requires flexibility to work away from home and is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys travel with exposure to diverse projects locations and operational environments across New Zealand and the Pacific.

This is a specialised technical role prior experience would be an advantage but full training would be provided. The successful candidate would ideally have:
Positive can- do attitude and willingness to learn new skills on the job
Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures accurately and consistently
Reliability and flexibility including the ability to adapt to changing priorities hours and work locations
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Commitment to health safety and quality standards
Computer skills including Microsoft suite
A current full Class 1 drivers licence is a requirement as some of the work is nightshift which would be required to drive between 10pm and 5am.
Additional optional requirements:
- A relevant science or engineering tertiary qualification will be an added advantage but not required.
- The ability to work as part of a team and with some leadership experience
