Essential Functions & Responsibilities

As per the Somerville Educators Union Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Process all annual reviews re-evaluations and emergency placement meetings
  • Coordinate meetings with families
  • Schedule all annual reviews re-evaluations and emergency placement meetings
  • Schedule interpreters for IEP meetings
  • Send meeting notices and invitations to families service providers and team members.
  • Chair all annual re-evaluation and emergency placement meetings for students with disabilities including transition meetings
  • Integrate goals and objectives provided by special educators into the IEP
  • Complete all special education paperwork related to IEP meetings
  • Monitor parent signatures
  • Generate and provide consent
  • Follow DESE and SPS regulations
  • Adhere to all mandated timelines and compliance
  • Complete educational evaluations and other job related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education

Qualifications Knowledge Abilities & Skills

  • Appropriate Department of Elementary and Secondary Educators license in thefield or subject for this position
  • DESE SEI endorsement Required
  • Bilingual Educator Preferred

  • Mobility:Frequent walking standing and navigating stairs.
  • Lifting/Strength:Ability to lift push pull or carry objects ranging from 10 to 30 lbs (e.g. books supplies equipment).
  • Physical Dexterity:Bending crouching kneeling stooping and reaching to assist students.
  • Stationary Tasks:Remaining in a stationary position (sitting/standing) for long periods.

  • FLSA Classification: Exempt
  • Benefits Eligibility: Benefits eligible
  • Compensation:Salary and benefits are governed by theSomerville Educators Union (SEU) collective bargaining agreement. Compensation is based oneducation and years of experience.
