Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities
Summary The College of Education at Sul Ross State University is seeking qualified part-time adjunct instructors to teach dual credit courses in the Teacher Academy Pathway. This pathway is designed to provide high school students with an early and substantive introduction to the knowledge dispositions and skills associated with becoming an effective educator. Courses in the Teacher Academy Pathway serve as a runway for students who may pursue teacher certification building foundational understanding of the PK12 learning environment child and adolescent development instructional practice and the professional role of the educator in Texas. The adjunct instructor in this role is both a subject matter expert and a practitioner-model who demonstrates the relevance and rigor of educator preparation for students in communities across the region served by SRSU . Duties The adjunct instructor in the Teacher Academy Dual Credit Pathway is responsible for the following though this list may not be exhaustive*: Instructional Responsibilities: Delivers assigned dual credit course(s) in alignment with SRSU syllabi and learning outcomes; Contextualizes course content for high school students using local district and community examples; Models effective instructional practices consistent with Texas educator standards; Maintains accurate and timely records of student attendance grades and participation; Submits grades and required documentation in accordance with SRSU and partnering ISD deadlines. Teach face to face. Field and Clinical Coordination: Facilitates structured classroom observations in PK12 settings when applicable to assigned course(s); Coordinates with host school site supervisors to support students during any embedded field experience component; Documents field experience hours and activities in accordance with TAC requirements where applicable. Professional and Institutional Responsibilities: Participates in required adjunct orientation; Maintains communication with the dual credit coordinator and Teacher Education Program leadership; Adheres to SRSU academic policies the dual credit partnership agreement and applicable sections of the Texas Administrative Code governing educator preparation; Other duties as assigned. Supervision Received: Reports to the Teacher Education Program Coordinator for anything related to course content and delivery. Working Conditions Part-time per-course appointment. Hours vary depending on the number of courses assigned and the academic calendar of the partnering ISD . Travel to the high school campus site(s) is required. Some coordination activity may occur outside of standard school hours. This is not a benefits-eligible position. Position is security sensitive. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
