Job Summary

Summary:The role of Machinist III involves expert-level responsibilities in adhering to all company HSEQ processes and procedures reviewing and comprehending complex part drawings and performing setup and operation of turning and milling equipment for critical tasks. Responsibilities include operating a 4-Jaw Independent Chuck band saw and drill press polishing various valve parts to manufacturer specifications and roughing out in-house fabricated parts. The role also requires machining flanges to within ASME 16.50 specifications drilling and tapping holes and having knowledge of advanced measuring tools such as calipers dial indicators tape measures and thread gauges. Additionally there is an advanced learning component for various measuring instruments including micrometers last word indicators PMI guns thread measurement devices and veneers along with mentoring junior :All Additional Job Responsibilities of a Machinist I & IISupport Machinist I & II employees through mentoring and/or on-the-job (OJT) trainingPerform final quality inspection on all machined components and equipmentDetermine machining requirements for complex projectsPotentially assume role as Field SupervisorAssisting with machine shop consumables inventoryFabricate drawings from sample partsPositional Requirements & Qualifications:Education & ExperienceHS Education or GED Equivalent a plusMachinist degree preferred3 years industry experienceSkills & AbilitiesMeets all Machinist I & II qualifications and requirementsProficient in Machinist I & II responsibilitiesMinimum of 3 years as a certified MachinistExperienced trainer of Level I & II MachinistsProficient in advanced machining techniques and standardsWorking knowledge and proficiency of machining metallurgyKnowledge and understanding of material selectionAbility to read and understand technical drawingsUnderstanding of shop math and machining costsAbility to organize and manage multiple tasksBasic OSHA and TWIC card (TWIC only if required)Ability to manage peopleExcellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated can do attitude and excellent customer service skillsMust be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance with company driving guidelinesClear background check and drug/alcohol screeningEssential Physical FunctionsLifting: up to 50 poundsAdjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directionsLift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feetBending stooping walking and climbing stairsAble to passperiodic medical evaluations and respirator fit tests to ensure continued compliance with OSHA or descending ladders stairs scaffolding rampsMoving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spacesRemaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periodsMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherCommunicating with others to exchange informationRepeating motions that may include the wrists handsand/or fingersOperating machinery and/or power toolsOperating motor vehicles or heavy equipmentAssessing the accuracy neatnessand thoroughness of the work assignedRequired physical ability if mandated by customer or regulatory requirementsThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed.
