The Tax Counsel Office Te Tari Tohutohu Tāke is responsible for providing tax technical advice specifically about the interpretation and application of taxation laws. We supply a range of related advice and services to both internal and external customers.
As a member of our Tax Counsel Office Te Tari Tohutohu Tāke team you will:
- Work in a team environment to interpret and decide on complex and emerging tax technical issues that often have strategic significance to support the right outcomes for our customers Inland Revenue Te Tari Taake and the government.
- Work on a range of technical projectsincluding adjudications (disputes) binding rulings and public guidance.
- Work across Inland Revenue Te Tari Taake in a networked way to inform and enable quality decision making ensuring any broader system-wide impacts are anticipated and managed.
- Engage well with our internal and external customers and stakeholders committed to the provision of excellent customer service.
About youMōu
This is an intellectually challenging role focused on complex issues and requiring collaboration with like-minded professionals. To succeed you will need:
- A desire to develop strong tax technical research analysis interpretation and opinion writing skills
- Developing communication project management customer and stakeholder management and time management skills
- A proactive approach openness to feedback and a willingness to build your capability across a range of tax technical areas
- A law degree and eligibility to hold a practising certificate
- One or two years post-qualification experience preferably in tax
