The Position

The Position Summary

As the Chief of Staff for the Roche Diagnostics Japan Enabling Team you will play a key role in the effective functioning and strategic success of the Japan Dia organization. Reporting to the Chapter Lead ET Office (Dottedly to GM Japan) you will work side by side with the Dia Japan GM and Dia Japan Enabling Team as the Chief of Staff.

In this role you will be involved in the strategic planning processes across the organization through strong collaboration with key stakeholders and network addition you will work with the ET to translate vision/ strategy to actionable deliverables and assist them in facilitating effective decision-making. You will follow through and update the ET on progress of these deliverables as well as communication to employees through dashboard or other avenues. You will work with ET to prioritize on agenda and work through the backlog. And you will plan convene and facilitate ET meetings to ensure objectives are achieved.


You will be responsible to:
Support Japan Dia GM to develop short- and long-term priorities (business financial and people) aligned to Roche Dia business objectives by engaging in strategic planning processes across the organization through strong collaboration with key stakeholders
and network teams.
As Chief of Staff support the ET to ensure they are setting and achieving outcomes while building and maintaining an environment that keeps the team focused on top priorities.
Convene and facilitate the ET meetings plan the agenda and support the team in timely well-informed decision making.
Design and facilitate effective meetings by prioritizing key objectives balancing content review with discussion and moderating dialogue.
Strengthen ET cohesiveness by working with the P&C and regular exchanges with individual ET members.
Increase ET effectiveness; Facilitate the formation of ET squads make accountability clear track and monitor ET decisions and backlog; hold ET members accountable to decisions and backlog.
Lead supported by administrative staff on all aspects of logistics and planning of ET meetings.
Collaborate with the GM and subject matter experts to develop communications and presentation materials for various speaking engagements.

Who you are
Professional and Technical Requirements:

- Degree / Masters in life sciences with typically with 3-5 years of relevant experience in the life science sector in a similar capacity that may be directly comparable to Diagnostics and/or Pharmaceuticals is an advantage.
- Strategy consulting background and skill set would be desirable.
- Strong leadership experience preferably with experience leading diverse teams and/or highly complex matrix leadership of enterprise-level projects.
- Strong business sense with a solid understanding of the healthcare industry and experience operating in a regulated environment.

Experience Skills Knowledge:

- Fully bilingual in Japanese and English in verbal writing and reading
- A systems thinker who can connect the dots between functions and processes in terms of broader business implications including tactical strategic and enterprise dependencies.
- A strong collaborator able to cultivate a strong and trusting relationship with executive leaders proven experience in stakeholder management.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguity and manage through change able to work effectively across cultures and highly matrix organization
- Be detail-oriented with excellent project management skills with an ability to consistently execute multiple and sometimes competing activities to a high quality and timely conclusion.
-Strong communication presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to distill and convey information in a compelling manner.

Employment Status and Period

  • Employment Status: Permanent

  • Probationary Period: Yes (In principle 3 months from the date of hire. However this period may be extended if deemed necessary by the Company.)

  • Scope of Modification (Potential Changes): Any location designated by the Company (including remote work locations); Nationwide transfer/relocation may apply.

    Note: In principle remote work is limited to a maximum of 8 times per month.

Compensation & Salary

  • Base Salary (Monthly): JPY 400000

    Note: To be determined in accordance with Company regulations taking into account capabilities experience etc.

  • Housing Allowance (Monthly): JPY 22000

  • Fixed Overtime Allowance (Monthly): JPY 68065

    Note: Paid as fixed overtime pay equivalent to 20 hours of overtime work regardless of whether actual overtime is worked.
    Note: Additional premium wage will be paid for any overtime work exceeding 20 hours.

  • Supplementary Information:

    Bonus: Once a year (March)Salary Increase: Once a year (April)

  • Other Allowances: Housing allowance Sales allowance Field allowance Overtime allowance Holiday work allowance Late-night work allowance Commuting allowance Separation (Separated family) allowance etc.

    Note: Various allowances will be paid in accordance with Company regulations.

Working Hours & Breaks

  • Standard Working Hours: 7 hours 45 minutes per day

  • Employment Type: Flextime System Applicable

  • Standard Working Hours Window: Start 8:30 End 17:15 (60-minute break)

  • Core Time: 11:00 15:00

  • Overtime & Holiday Work: Yes (Only when deemed necessary for business operations)

Holidays & Leaves

  • Holidays: Saturdays Sundays National Holidays New Years Holidays (December 29 January 4) Foundation Day (August 1) and other days deemed necessary by the Company.

  • Leaves & Vacations:

    Annual Paid Leave: Company-specific paid leave will be granted in addition to the statutory number of days.
