Job Summary:

The Student Success Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the success engagement and belonging of MD students throughout their academic journey. This position leads the planning and execution of MD orientation programming manages onboarding processes for incoming students and supports student leadership development through advising and coordination of registered student organizations affiliated with the MD program. The role collaborates closely with academic affairs student services and campus partners to ensure a seamless and supportive student experience.

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person onsite at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely at an offsite non-campus work location.

  • Monday through Friday 8:00a.m.- 4:30p.m.

  • Terminal 24 month appointment

  • This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • May supervise the day to day activities of one or more academic programs and resolves issues exercising discretion to meet unit goals.
  • Coordinates program components and evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Identifies program needs contributes to the development of unit workflows schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings events and interviews
  • Utilizes independent judgement regarding development implementation promotion and evaluation for one or more academic programs initiatives or events

MD Student Services is dedicated to supporting the success and professional development of approximately 750 current medical students and the licensing verifications of thousands of MD alumni. Serving as a central hub for student support across all four years of the MD curriculum the department partners closely with faculty and academic affairs and as well as UW-Madison campus units to create a student-centered environment that empowers learners to thrive in medical school in beyond. SMPH MD Student Services encompasses the following offices: academic and career advising academic success services financial aid records and wellness.

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $50112 annually but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting students or coordinating student-facing programs in higher education student affairs health professions education or a related setting
  • Demonstrated experience independently coordinating logistics communications and implementation of educational or student programming
  • Strong communication organizational and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting student leadership and/or student organizations in a higher education setting
  • Experience with program assessment theme tracking or continuous improvement efforts

Education:

Bachelors degree preferred minimum
