Fire Protection Engineer (Entry-Level)

Coffman Engineers is seeking an Entry Level Fire Protection Engineer to join our Downtown Los Angeles office. You will support our fire protection engineering team automatic suppression system design; fire detection alarm and mass notification system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.  The ideal candidate should have a desire to work and grow as a team player within our Fire Protection department.

Qualifications :

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree (B.S.) from accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Fire Protection Engineering Fire Sciences or related engineering field
• 0-1 years of professional fire protection engineering experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Passed or scheduled to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
• Bachelors Degree from a local university is a plus
• Internship co-op or undergraduate research experience related to building systems fire protection or life safety
• Basic experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment
• Academic or extracurricular leadership experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Self-starter persistent and able to follow through in a consistent manner
• Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of his/her work
• Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Basic understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures

• Capable of working well under pressure
