Job Title
Staff Security Engineer (Digital Trust Taiwan)What you will do
As a Staff Security Engineer in the Digital Trust / Information Security team you will serve as a senior technical security expert supporting Coupangs businesses in Taiwan and Japan. You will drive both tactical security implementations and largescale security initiatives partnering closely with Privacy Legal Engineering Product Management and global security teams. Your mission is to safeguard customer trust secure internal operations and enable rapid business growth by embedding strong scalable security practices across Coupang Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead security reviews and risk assessments for new products services and business initiatives in Taiwan enabling secure and timely launches across appfirst ecommerce and logistics platforms.
- Own and drive Taiwanwide security engineering initiatives that raise the security baseline at scale and influence security practices across regional and global Coupang organizations.
- Proactively identify security gaps across data protection infrastructure applications and internal processes; perform deep rootcause analysis and implement longterm remediation strategies.
- Partner with Global Digital Trust teams to support incident response insider threat investigations threat intelligence actions vulnerability remediation and thirdparty security assessments.
- Work closely with engineering IT data and product teams to ensure security controls are built into system design development and operations from day one.
- Translate complex security risks into clear actionable recommendations enabling teams to prioritize effectively and move with urgency in a fastgrowing environment.
- Influence technical decisionmaking by providing security architecture guidance that balances customer experience delivery speed and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of security standards tooling and metrics aligned with Coupangs customerfirst and WOW culture.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Security or a related technical field.
- 8 years of handson experience in security engineering including leading or designing largescale security solutions across crossfunctional teams.
- Deep technical expertise in defensive security domains such as data protection application security cloud or infrastructure security and incident response.
- Proven ability to assess risk decompose complex security problems and deliver practical scalable solutions in highgrowth environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholdermanagement skills with the ability to influence engineers product managers and business leaders.
- Demonstrated ownership bias for action and ability to thrive in a fastpaced resultsdriven culture.
- Experience working with global or regional teams across different time zones is highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Securityrelated certifications such as OSCP CISSP CISM or equivalent.
- Masters degree in Computer Science Information Security or a related field.
- Experience supporting security programs for ecommerce logistics payments or largescale consumer platforms.
- Familiarity with regulatory and privacy requirements relevant to Taiwan and Japan (e.g. data protection crossborder data handling).
- Experience driving security initiatives that balance compliance customer experience and business velocity.
- Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in both languages.
- Prior experience influencing security strategy at a regional or organizational level.
