About the role
We are on the lookout for a Principal Android Engineer to join our mobile app team at Dyson. Communication collaboration and a desire to improve are second nature to you and you live and breathe good engineering experience gives you a deep understanding of the delivery of robust and testable code balanced against the need to deliver efficiently.
Whatyoullbe doing
As part of a global team ofAppPrincipal Engineers own and communicatethe architectural vision for theMyDysonapp.
Contribute to the definition and design of systemsinwhich theMyDysonapp is a part in collaboration with cloud embeddedsoftwareand IT architects.
Support app development teams on complex features andinitiativesandrepresent theappteam from a technical perspective in conversations with business stakeholders.
Shareyour knowledge and experience with thejunior members of theapp teamto develop the skills and competencies within the team including mentoringjuniorengineers.
Proactivelyidentifytechnical risks within projects and influencing teams in their resolution.
Identifyand drive the deployment ofnew technologiesandtools to help continually improve standards and qualityacrossthe wider team
About you
10 years of experience working on and scaling global Android mobile applications
You thrive on solving tough technical challenges and setting the technical direction for product teams.Yourehands-ona coder at heartbut you also see the bigger picture and shape the roadmap.
Yourecomfortable working across disciplines. Whetheritsmentoring engineers aligning with product managers or presenting ideas to leadership you bring people together to move projects forward.
You have strong knowledge of modern app architectures (MVVM MVI Clean Architecture) and design patterns and have extensive experience with modern Android development with Kotlin Compose and Jetpack libraries.
Yourea collaborative person that understands and believes in the Agile principles and how they can enable empoweredappteams to deliver robustandscalable software solutions
Youvecontributed quality code tohighly ratedmobile apps that have positivelyimpacteda large community of users
You are motivated by the challenge of solving real-world problems

TheMyDysonappusesa modulararchitecturebuiltusingthe MVVM pattern.Over75%of our codebase is written inKotlin with an ongoing effort to migratetheremaining Java code.
