Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Advisor System Architect & Auditor to oversee the development governance and application of the LBS (Landelijke Bedieningssystematiek) in alignment with the LTS (Landelijke Technische Standaard).

This role is critical in ensuring the coherence integrity and integration of complex technical systems across multidisciplinary environments including infrastructure assets such as bridges locks and tunnels.

The successful candidate will act as a guardian of architectural standards ensuring seamless integration across technical installations control systems human-machine interfaces and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Integration

  • Oversee and guide the development and evolution of LBS in alignment with LTS.
  • Ensure integration across:
    • Technical Installations (TI)
    • Control systems (3B)
    • Human-Machine Interfaces (MMI)
    • Traffic & Transport Installations (TTI)
    • Control centers and civil infrastructure
  • Safeguard consistency between architecture system configurations and implementation.

Standards Governance

  • Act as custodian of architectural standards and ensure correct application across projects.
  • Assess and manage change requests including advising Change Advisory Boards (CAB).
  • Implement approved changes within Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA).
  • Support release management including validation and quality assurance of updates.

Advisory & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide expert advice to projects and RWS departments on applying LBS standards.
  • Support and mentor internal advisors to enhance their architectural capabilities.
  • Advise on project-specific deviations and architectural decisions.

Modeling & Systems Engineering

  • Translate framework documentation into consistent architecture models.
  • Manage and apply metamodels for LBS and related systems.
  • Analyze and define interfaces between architectures and frameworks.
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles to ensure safe reliable and scalable systems.

Audit & Review

  • Conduct independent architectural reviews of:
    • Requirements specifications
    • Design documentation
    • Integration and testing plans
  • Ensure compliance with architectural principles and standards.

Key Deliverables

  • Upgrade and transformation of LBS aligned with LTS.
  • Architecture models and structured framework documentation.
  • Implementation of approved changes in EA.
  • Advisory reports on architecture integration and standards.
  • Review findings and recommendations for design baselines.
  • Contributions to CAB decisions and governance processes.

Mandatory Requirements (Knock-out Criteria)

  1. Education
    • Bachelors or Masters degree (HBO/WO) in:
      Electrical Engineering Technical Physics Computer Science Mechanical Engineering or similar
  2. Infrastructure Experience
    • Minimum 10 years experience in bridge lock and/or tunnel construction or renovation
  3. Modeling Expertise
    • At least 5 years experience with Archimate SysML UML in multidisciplinary environments
  4. System Architecture & Integration
    • Minimum 5 years experience in system integration architecture and lifecycle management of critical systems
  5. Systems Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years experience applying Systems Engineering principles
  6. Technical Installations
    • At least 10 years experience with technical installations in infrastructure projects
  7. Stakeholder Advisory
    • Proven experience advising senior stakeholders (Department Heads Technical Managers Project Managers)

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA)
  • Experience working within government or large infrastructure organizations
  • Familiarity with RWS frameworks and standards (LBS/LTS)
  • Strong background in multidisciplinary system environments
