The position involves coordination of utility work andrelocations in conjunction with capital projects. Responsibilities include coordinating andmeeting with utility companies designers contractors etc. to determine thelocation of existing utilities if there is conflict and how to best avoid orresolve utility conflicts. The primary responsibility is to coordinate proposedcapital work with utility companies to minimize construction impacts prepareutility statements review utility submissions track project submissions andutility related issues that may arise during construction. This position isconsidered Report When Contacted (RWC) and may have to report during emergencysituations and severe weather events. Must maintain a valid drivers license.

- Inspects infrastructures to ensure compliance with design plans materials specifications safety requirements construction processes local state and federal codes and on-going maintenance requirements; documents and reports compliance or deficiencies.
- Designs develops or reviews engineering project or site layouts alignments profiles studies graphs and other related activities.
- Compiles and records notes sketches test results inspection data and other information to document compliance and/or develop designs specifications reports maps and other geographically based data.
- Conducts various studies to be used by others to analyze needs or develop plans record characteristics and other related activities.
- Conducts data analysis to determine accuracy of data collected develop recommendations develop corrective designs and/or ensure compliance.
- Tests or evaluates the quality of materials or designs to verify adherence to contracts and specifications.
- Obtains survey data such as angles elevations points and contours using electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.
- Calculates or measures area and volume dimensions horizontal and vertical geometry profile and component specifications and material testing dimensions using calculators or computers.
- Operates computer assisted drafting equipment or other tools of the trade and uses automated information systems and computer software to enter update modify delete retrieve and report on data.
- Reads and interprets plans specification blueprints and other engineering documents.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS forEngineering/Planning/Surveying Technician III
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Public Utility Coordination
Six months experience in reviewing construction plans and details project plans specifications schematics or technical drawings to determine compliance.
Six months experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter update modify delete retrieve/inquire and report on data.
Knowledge of coordinating public utility relocations in roadway or bridge construction contracts.
Knowledge of interpreting laws rules and regulations pertaining to public utility relocation and installation in public right-of-way.
Knowledge of project management which includes planning developing implementing managing and evaluating projects to ensure objectives are met.
Possession of a valid Drivers License (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).
