The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the decontamination sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role includes leadership responsibilities to ensure compliance with infection control standards and efficient workflow within the sterile processing department.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily operations within the sterile processing department.
Oversee decontamination cleaning sterilization and storage of surgical instruments.
Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
Monitor and enforce infection control and safety standards.
Train and support staff on sterile processing procedures and best practices.
Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of instruments and equipment.
Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments.
Schedule & Work Environment
Mid shift (8-hour shifts)
Full-time schedule (5 days per week)
Hospital or surgical services environment
No block scheduling
Required Qualifications
Experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
Leadership or team lead experience in sterile processing
Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards
Certification in sterile processing (CRCST or equivalent) preferred/required based on facility
Preferred Skills
Experience in high-volume surgical environments
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Ability to manage workflow and prioritize tasks effectively
