What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):
Education:
- Masters degree in nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from an accredited university.
- Must have completed an approved Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) program with an Adult Child or Family focus.
- Doctorate degree preferred.
Experience:
Must have two to three years of experience with adults and children greater than age 12 who present and are assessed with a DSM-V diagnosis. Experience with mentally ill participants preferred.
Certification:
- Current certification to practice as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Current medication furnishing number issued by State of California
Licensing:
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Nursing Education.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License for the furnishing of psychotropic medications.
- Valid California Drivers License and current automobile insurance and must maintain a driving record that meets the company drivers eligibility policy.
How you will make a difference (job overview):
In collaboration with a designated physician the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is responsible for providing outpatient psychiatric care including intakes assessments and furnishing and providing medication management following established standards and practices. The PNP will review and analyze participant records to furnish and evaluate the usage of psychotropic and other drugs and the quality and appropriateness of the care of mental health participants.
Division/Program Overview:
- MHRC is a 16 bed inpatient program that provides intensive support and rehabilitative services.
- The individuals served are 18-64 years old with mental health struggles that have necessitated placement in a state hospital or other intensive behavioral health facility.
- Comprehensive behavioral health and psychiatric services are provided by a multidisciplinary team.
- The team supports individuals in developing the skills to become self- sufficient and increase levels of independence and functioning
