WFPs primary responsibility is to ensure that people in need receive assistance safely completely and without interference. This is both an accountability obligation to those we serve and a demonstration of responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to WFP.

Operating in complex and challenging environmentsoften marked by conflict natural disasters limited access and poor infrastructureWFP must maintain strong accountability systems to prevent fraud corruption and diversion and to detect and address any wrongdoing promptly.

In recent years WFP has identified key areas requiring reinforcement to achieve higher levels of control and assurance notably Identity Management and Cooperating Partner Management.

Identity Management refers to the principles standards processes capabilities and technology solutions used to identify individuals and manage their information for assistance delivery. WFP must ensure that personal data is collected stored managed and disposed of in line with WFPs data protection policies safeguarding confidentiality integrity and privacy throughout the assistance cyclewhether cash vouchers or in-kind support.

The selected candidate will work within the Delivery Assurance Services (DAS) Unit of the Supply Chain and Delivery Division supporting the Assurance Oversight Risk and Compliance Officer in all activities related to assurance and compliance for Identity Management through data analysis anomaly detection.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyse complex data sets to identify trends patterns anomalies and insights that inform business strategies and operational decisions for identity Management services in Country Offices. Design and execute statistical methods and advanced tools to identify relevant features and variables in structured and unstructured sources of information and data. Clean transform and validate data to ensure accuracy and integrity across systems and reporting tools used to provide IDM services. Identify appropriate data sources and datasets required for Identity Management Services. Collaborate with relevant colleagues to improve data pipelines flows data quality accessibility etc. Input into the development and implementation of databases/data lakes data collection systems data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality of WFP operations Develop and implement various analysis reporting and quality control capabilities

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be a masters student or a graduate in in computer science data science analytics statistics information management or a related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French Spanish Arabic Chinese Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.
  • Some knowledge of self-service analytics and data visualization applications (MS PowerBI Qlik Tableau or similar).
  • Some Python skills including use of data libraries such as Pandas NumPy scikit-learn XGBoost TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebook or JupyterLab for data analysis and documentation would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of AI technologies is a plus.
  • Understanding of data governance data security and best practices in managing structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect organize manage and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to analyse model and interpret data in support of decision-making and convey information succinctly to management.
  • Adept at queries report writing and presenting findings.
  • Ability to quality-check work completed by other team members.
  • Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify and exhibits interest in having two-way communication;
  • Proven skills in working towards a common goal in a team of diverse skills experience and cultural backgrounds with heavy emphasis towards business and non-technical team members. Particularly important is the ability to work remotely and continue to ensure alignment on activities and goals.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

Throughout their assignment candidates have access to an industry leading learning platform WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars as appropriate.

LEARNING ELEMENTS

At the end of the assignment the candidate should have gained knowledge of:

  • Data analysis available for COs to identify anomalies trends and improve identity management processes over their data.
  • How to support Country Office in improving data quality and identity management processes.
  • How efficiency/effectiveness gains are identified in Identity management processes.
  • How evidence is built documented and available for decision making both at COs and HQ level.
  • How data are clean transformed and validated data using the selected systems and tools (as required)..

TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT

This opportunity is particularly well-suited for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international organization. It offers valuable exposure to WFPs operations and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its mission.

The selected candidate will receive IT equipment training material and medical insurance coverage; however financial compensation is not provided by WFP.
