Job Title: Regional Phlebotomy Manager (RPM)

Reports To: Account Director

Job Summary:

The Regional Phlebotomy Manager (RPM) is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of phlebotomy services within a designated region. Under the direction of the Account Director the RPM supervises the Phlebotomists (PSRs) ensuring that all daily tasks are completed accurately and on time. This role maintains a safe professional and compliant environment for patients clients and employees by overseeing PSR activities implementing policies and procedures and providing effective leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Travel to client locations within the designated region on short notice.
  • Implement and distribute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for phlebotomy services in accordance with Mako guidelines including daily PSR tasks CIR resolution and PPE management.
  • Provide leadership to the team solving problems making decisions assisting in procedure development and attending client meetings with the Account Manager.
  • Manage the employee hiring process including job descriptions performance expectations and participation in interviews and selection of PSR employees.
  • Supervise and evaluate PSR performance conduct employee orientation training and continuing education.
  • Coach counsel motivate and evaluate employee performance on a continual basis implementing disciplinary actions as needed in consultation with upper management and HR.
  • Coordinate the work of phlebotomists to ensure consistent production and service levels.
  • Conduct site visits as assigned documenting findings and assisting with quality assurance (QA) audits.
  • Foster positive employee relations ensuring an ethical non-discriminatory and safe work environment.
  • Manage department supplies and inventory ensuring proper usage and availability.
  • Ensure all specimens are collected accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide phlebotomy coverage as needed in locations where PSRs are unavailable.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all activities.
  • Approve employee schedules and time/attendance entries to minimize overtime.
  • Assist in compiling monthly statistics and data.
  • Submit accurate expense and travel logs as directed by management.
  • Adhere to company dress code grooming policies and demonstrate organizational commitment.
  • Demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with clients patients and co-workers promoting a cooperative work environment.
  • Perform duties independently while communicating issues to management as needed.
  • Contribute to team efforts by maintaining a positive work climate.
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts with phlebotomists and team leaders.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety precautions and procedures as outlined in procedure manuals.
  • Follow all security and privacy practices to protect sensitive health information.
  • Comply with the Corporate Compliance Program and policies including Privacy and Security policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments within Mako and subsidiaries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Licensure:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of prior job-related experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • May be required to work in or near biohazardous materials including bloodborne pathogens.

  • Strong time management service orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in management of personnel resources including motivating and directing employees.
  • Ability to manage evaluate and document job performance.

Abilities:

  • Ability to travel on short notice and frequently throughout the week.
  • Strong deductive reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure clarity and understanding.
