About The Opportunity

As a Senior Parks Maintenance Labourer you will maintain and enhance the environment of our Parks Gardens Open Spaces Cemeteries Reserves Beaches Foreshores and Streetscape.

You will perform more highly skilled and specialised Horticultural tasks which may include turf and irrigation management streetscape and landscape maintenance chainsaw and arboreal activities and specialised cleaning. You will work autonomously as a sole operator for your designated area and must possess the skills and initiative required to successfully maintain this area to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Undertake general and skilled labouring maintenance and horticultural activities
  • Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment
  • Operate varies light plant and handheld equipment such as mowers brush cutters hedge trimmers blowers and chainsaws
  • Perform manual handling. loading/unloading cleaning or basic repair tasks
  • Provide on the job guidance to other employees when required
  • Work cooperatively within a team to meet performance safety and quality standards

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in maintenance and improvement of parks streetscape landscape and horticultural environments
  • Class C Drivers License
  • MR or HR License or the ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Construction Industry General Safety Induction (White Card)
  • Demonstrated ability to safely perform physical labouring tasks of a repetitive nature
  • Certificate II or higher in a Horticulture related field
  • Provision of a satisfactory Criminal History Check Police Certificate (Australia wide name only)
  • A Chainsaw Ticket and Herbicide Operator Ticket (AC/DC) is highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience to correctly operate and maintain various items ofmachinery and equipment relevant to the position
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with Council staff and the general public
