Purpose
The Public Health Strategist-Housing and Economic HealthSafety and Security provides technical expertise program management andleadership to support housing and economic stability activities and strengthenpolicies and systems that influence health and equity among City of Milwaukeeresidents.
Essential Functions
Housing and Economic Health Safety and Security Strategyand Policy
- Research draft pilot and implement a community engagement model to engage partners in addressing housing and economic security as determinants of health in the City of Milwaukee.
- Develop strategies to promote housing and economic security initiatives and campaigns.
- Assess document and evaluate strategic and operational plans.
- Monitor track and evaluate economic health safety and security initiatives and activities.
- Identify and support departmental grant opportunities related to housing and economic security by conducting evidence reviews accessing available data supporting budget development and designing new or existing projects.
- Lead housing and economic data gathering and analysis for the department.
- Publish issue briefs and reports that highlight housing and economic data findings as social determinants of health.
- Support the development of messaging and language options for policies programs services ordinances resolutions legislation etc.
- Maintain housing and economic security subject matter expertise via ongoing training and research.
Collaboration Partnership Development and CommunityEngagement
- Collaborate with stakeholders locally statewide and nationally to integrate public health framework into housing and economic recovery plans and funding decisions.
- Conduct presentations on housing and economic health safety and security for both small groups and large audiences including professionals and the general public.
- Participate in and support workgroup efforts addressing local- and system-level issues related to housing and economic health safety and security as public health issues.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other city departments state and federal regulatory and funding agencies medical providers community-based organizations (CBOs) advocacy agencies and academic institutions to coordinate and consult on comprehensive city-wide efforts.
- Work with community partners at all levels and facilitate their cooperation in developing and completing shared vision and goals relating to housing and economic security.
- Coordinate and participate in Community Health Improvement Plan Action teams and support the development and implementation of Housing and Economic Security-related activities.
- Inform and maintain consistent updates to the Public Health Strategist-Senior regarding housing and economic health safety and security.
- Coordinate with the Home Environmental Health (HEH) Division to support strategic planning policy and partnership development around health and affordable homes.

Conditions of Employment
- Travel outside the City of Milwaukee occasionally overnight for training purposes or for participating in meetings representing the City.
- Carry a mobile device during business hours.
- Required to file a Statement of Economic Interests in accordance with the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Chapter 303-Code of Ethics.
- Respond to an emergency or broad impact event.
- Pre-Employment Vaccination and Screening Requirements:
- Annual TB Test
- Annual Covid-19 and Influenza vaccinations
- Pre-employment immunity verification required for MMR Varicella and Hepatitis B
- If not immune vaccination or an approved exemption is required.
- Vaccination series only needs to be done once.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in psychology health education public health community health social services or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience performing health-related program coordination coalition coordination or community mental health behavioral health and/or health/human services-related programing duties.
- Valid drivers license and access to a properly insured vehicle at the time of appointment and throughout employment; mileage reimbursement provided pursuant to Section 350-183 of the Milwaukee Code.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may alsobe considered.

Desirable Qualifications
- Masters degree in psychology health education public health community health social services or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Bilingual in Spanish Hmong or another language.
- Registration as a Certified Public Health Professional.

- Knowledge of and ability to work with computer applications including database project management spreadsheet and word processing software.

Current Salary
The current salary range (2IX)$65859-$89460 and theresident incentive salary range for City of Milwaukee residents is$68494-$93038.Appointmentabove the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and otherqualifications and is subject to approval.
