Job Description

Required Qualifications:

***** Must have 10 years of experience with DO-178 or DO-254 with proven Software Quality Assurance (SQA) proven work*****
Minimum of 11 years directly related work experience with aerospace/defense industry software processes (such as RTCA DO-178c RTCA 278a RTCA DO-254 SAE ARP-4754 MIL-STD-498 etc.)
Experience with government customers projects preferred.
Experience with FAA projects preferred.
Must demonstrate basic understanding of audit techniques.
Must demonstrate basic understanding of software development methods and software testing methods.
Must have the ability to interpret schematic drawings specifications contracts that will enable development and review of systems & software processes.
Experience in software requirements development.
Software design and coding (C/C Ada or other embedded programming languages)
Embedded software/hardware verification background or knowledge
Effective Communication Skills: Written Oral Listening Presentation Technical Writing
Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word Excel PowerPoint etc.

Job Responsibilities:

Interface with systems and software development personnel test and evaluation personnel and project managers.
Must work well in a team environment have excellent customer interface skills have effective interpersonal skills.
Must quickly come up to speed with the software process auditor work scope technical requirements program risks and delivery milestone schedule.
Review and approve systems software and test equipment requirements design and test documentation for compliance to process requirements and standards.
Participate/interface with the engineering counterparts on program activities to assure processes and products are compliant to contractual and company process requirements and standards.
Participate in the software change control process boards
Moderate travel may be required to support program activities and auditing software suppliers.
Mentor and train junior employees as required
Education:
BS degree required in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering (preferred)

The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bells FLRAA aircraft will become the Armys primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years advancing the Armys assault capabilities. The FLRAA program is utilizing the latest in cutting edge technology to expand the United States Armys tactical advantage in future conflicts. The Bell FLRAA team seeks the top engineering talents from around the industry to design develop and deliver the worlds next-generation military aircraft.

The Avionics Systems Engineer is responsible for developing requirements and MBSE models to support developing and integrating software components related to the control of air vehicle subsystems for the Avionics IPT on the FLRAA program.

What youll be doing as an Avionics Systems Engineer:

Develop architecture models for software components.

Write high level requirements for software components.

Perform SysML Modeling in MagicDraw/Cameo.

Generate system functional requirements from stakeholder expectation.

Validate and verify system requirements.

Coordinate with Internal and External teams suppliers and peers to generate and execute project/design plans and reviews.

Develop test cases to verify the system under test.

Troubleshoot and resolve system integration/verification issues.

Manage and coordinate issues problem reports and change requests to closure.

Coordinate design changes and deliveries with Safety Security and Certification organizations.

Ensure timely delivery of systems requirements integrated validation/verification activities and issue resolution.

Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.

Skills You Bring to This Role:

Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering Electrical Engineering Software Engineering Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required. Mechanical or Other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable experience.

At least 5 years work experience in similar engineering environment but hiring at all skill levels for this position 10 years preferred

Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition requirements allocation requirements validation requirements verification integration embedded software electronic systems FAA/EASA/NAA certification cyber and system safety.

Experience with DO-297 DO-178 and/or DO-331 process assurance experience is a plus

Prior experience working on A653 partition-based operating system is a plus

Able to communicate directly with senior leadership inside and outside the company.

Self-motivated and able to track and report performance to cost and schedule.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

Experience in developing or designing within an Avionics Environment

Experience with MBSE tools (eg EA Sparx IBM Rhapsody Magic Draw) CM tools (eg SVN Clearcase git Dimensions)
