Accountant I - SamplesPosition Overview
This position will support the financial accounting and reporting ofoperations with aheavyemphasis on sample manufacturing.This includes but is not limited to month-end closing activities periodic reporting and analysis andinventory reconciliation.The position will work closely with corporate accounting staffSample manufacturing andthe industrial engineeringteam. This position willreportwithin the Corporate Manufacturing Accounting department.
Objectives:
Developunderstanding ofSamplesAccounting. Coordinate the accounting and reporting of operating variances for specificdepartments which may includeSoft Surface Hard SurfacePlanning MerchandisingOutside Processing and Distributionfacilities within theSamplesDivision. Thiswill include interaction with and guidance of plant-level resources as well as interaction with corporate staff.This will include month-end closing activities for thosedepartmentsand will require the candidate to become proficient at reviewing the work of others to correct and prevent errors.
Develop working relationships and partnerships withSamplesManufacturing and Operations.At times this may involve site visits and participationonplant-level (andpossibly divisional) teams.
Develop an understanding of our accounting systems and how they relate tooperations. These systemsincludeOracle Fusion PeopleSoft Financials ImpactPower BI QlikViewPAW (Planning Analytics Workspace) and TM1.
Essential Duties:
Perform month-end closing tasks for multipleSamples departments
Perform routine and ad-hoc reporting forSamplesand operations support
Perform certain data analysis and manipulation tasks as needed to include routine loadingof monthly journal entries
Communicate effectively with people at various levels within our company and those ofoutside companies as well
Support Accounts Payable when needed
Other duties as assigned by manager
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
Demonstrateexcellent organizational skills
Demonstratea good working knowledge of computerized accounting systems
Self-motivated individual who follows directions well and works well with limited oversight
Must be able to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment
Demonstratesaccuracythoroughnessand attention to detail
Knowledge Skills andAbilities Required:
Basic understanding of accounting/costing principles and ability to learn
Ability to communicate accounting information policies and procedures in an easilyunderstood manner
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Ability to work well with a diverse group of people at various levels within and outside thecompany
Strong Microsoft Office foundation with emphasis on spreadsheets and data manipulation
Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accountingapplications
Ability to recognize problems and offerpossible solutions(self-starter strongly preferred)

This role is hybrid requiring associates to be in the Dalton office a minimum of 2 days a week.
