Job Title: Design Release Engineer Interior Hard Trim & Overhead Systems

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the development of Interior Hard Trim and Overhead Systems for next-generation vehicle programs. This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of component design release and integration within the vehicle lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design and development of interior hard trim and overhead components
- Create and manage 3D/2D CAD models using NX
- Define and manage part interfaces with body electrical HVAC and interior systems
- Execute part/drawing release and manage engineering changes (eBOM TKO GVDP)
- Perform dimensional analysis tolerance stack-ups and GD&T application
- Resolve fit finish and ergonomic issues through structured problem-solving
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including:
- Engineering (Interior Body Electrical HVAC)
- Manufacturing Quality and Suppliers
- Design Studio and Purchasing
- Support testing validation and launch activities throughout product lifecycle
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3 years of experience in automotive interior component design
- Experience with injection molded and/or compression molded parts
- Proficiency in NX CAD (3D/2D)
- Strong understanding of:
- GD&T
- Tolerance stack-up analysis
- Product design and development processes
- Experience working in cross-functional and fast-paced environments
- Prior experience as a Design Release Engineer (DRE)
- Knowledge of:
- DFMEA / PFMEA
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
- Red-X problem-solving methodology
- Familiarity with automotive development processes such as GVDP
- Interior CAD & Product Definition (NX hard trim systems)
- Release & Change Management (eBOM TKO drawing release)
- Dimensional Engineering & Problem Solving (GD&T stack-ups fit/finish)
- Proactive problem-solver with strong ownership mindset
- Detail-oriented with focus on quality and fit/finish
- Ability to manage ambiguity and work under pressure
