Job Summary

Frankfurt International School in Wiesbaden is looking for an engaged and qualifiedLearning Support Teaching Assistant (Student Learning Coach)effective 1 May 2026 until 31 July 2027. This position is connected to special learning needs of individual student(s) and may end if the student(s) is/are exited from the program or with the student(s) departure.

The purpose of this role is

  • To provide supplementary support to students so they can achieve at their highest possible level.
  • Collaborate with Learning Support and classroom teachers to support student learning.

Performance Responsibilities:

The duties of the position will include but will not be limited to the following and will be under guidance of the classroom or learning support teacher:

  • Assist students requiring supplementary instruction in any curricular area.
  • Reinforce behavioral expectations within the classroom and school in general.
  • Attend meetings to plan for the needs of the student(s) as requested.
  • Comply with any reasonable request made by the principal.
  • Communicate with teachers when necessary to request work study guides or materials for students.
  • Continue communicating with teachers throughout the school year.
  • Work with students on identified needs for example reading strategies organization self advocacy and study skills.
  • Collaborate with counselors learning support staff and faculty on strategies that support students.

General Expectations

The Student Learning Coach works with students who need additional support academically. The role includes collaboration with the students classroom teacher learning support teacher counselor and other adults to support the childs role could include an individual student or small groups who have variety of learning differences that make learning more challenging for them. The purpose of the Student Learning Coach is to support students in improving the necessary skills and tools to be independent and successful.

The Student Learning Coach is expected to

  • Demonstrate patience positive communication skills and the ability to tailor their teaching methods to meet the needs of their students.
  • Conduct him/herself in a professional way when dealing with colleagues parents and students at all times.
  • Support the schools philosophy and general educational principles.
  • Report pertinent information about students to the appropriate teacher administrator parents/guardians.

Personal Expectations

  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Enjoying working with young people.
  • Experience working in a school setting supporting student learning.
  • Demonstrated Ability to work with children.
  • Ability to speak English
  • Japanese language skills would be helpful but are not required
