Job Title: Associate Director Internal Audit (Non-Financial Services)

Role Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Associate Director to lead and grow our Internal Audit practice for non-financial services clients across manufacturing retail technology healthcare pharmaceuticals and infrastructure sectors. This role is focused on operational process audits Internal Financial Controls (IFC) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and compliance audits (excluding SOX).
The Associate Director will act as a key bridge between the Partner group and the execution teams responsible for client relationship management business development team leadership and technical quality assurance on multiple concurrent engagements. You will work in a client-facing environment with minimal supervision .
Core Responsibilities:
Engagement & Practice Management
- Portfolio Leadership: Oversee 5 8 concurrent internal audit assignments across diverse non-FS industries ensuring they are completed within agreed timelines budgets and quality standards.
- Quality Assurance: Review workpapers audit reports risk control matrices (RCMs) and management letters for technical accuracy and compliance with the methodology and IIA standards.
- Resource Management: Allocate and manage team resources (mix of Managers Seniors Associates) across projects to optimize utilization and profitability.
Audit Execution & Technical Expertise
- Risk-Based Auditing: Lead the end-to-end execution of internal audits process audits IFC reviews and operational audits including planning walkthroughs controls testing and reporting.
- Process Improvement: Identify gaps in key business processes P2P (Procure-to-Pay) O2C (Order-to-Cash) RTR (Record-to-Report) Inventory Fixed Assets Payroll and HR and recommend practical value-added remediation.
- SOP & Framework Design: Guide teams in reviewing and enhancing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) policies and governance frameworks.
- ERM Support: Assist clients in Enterprise Risk Management initiatives including risk register updates risk assessment workshops and mitigation planning.
- Fraud & Forensics: Conduct or supervise fraud investigations and forensic audits as required (advantage).
Client Advisory & Business Development
- Primary Point of Contact (SPOC): Serve as the trusted advisor for client CXOs Audit Committees and process heads presenting audit findings risk ratings and strategic recommendations.
- Business Development: Actively support Partners in proposal writing client pitch preparation effort estimation and presentations to potential clients.
- Practice Growth: Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing engagements (e.g. risk advisory technology consulting ESG).
- Thought Leadership: Contribute to Point of View (POV) creation industry trends analysis and practice development initiatives .
Team Leadership & Development
- People Management: Lead mentor and develop a team of 15 25 professionals (Managers Senior Consultants Associates) including performance reviews career coaching and technical training.
- Capability Building: Conduct periodic technical training sessions on internal audit methodologies IFC data analytics and report writing.
- Positive Culture: Foster an inclusive high-performance environment that respects work-life quality while meeting client expectations .
Risk Compliance & Reporting
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all audits comply with ICAI standards Companies Act 2013 (Section 143) and industry-specific regulations (e.g. FSSAI for food HIPAA for healthcare).
- Audit Committee Reporting: Prepare and review high-quality Audit Committee presentations and management letters.
- Remediation Tracking: Oversee follow-up reviews to validate implementation of corrective actions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
| Education (Mandatory) | Chartered Accountant (CA) OR MBA (Finance) full-time from a recognized university/institute. |
| Preferred Certification | Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is highly preferred . |
| Experience | 8 12 years of post-qualification experience in internal audit with at least 2 3 years at a Manager level or equivalent. |
| Firm Pedigree | Prior experience in a mid-to-large public accounting firm (Big 4 Grant Thornton BDO RSM or equivalent) is mandatory. |
| Industry Exposure | Non-FS sectors only: Manufacturing Retail FMCG Pharma/Healthcare Logistics Automotive Technology Infrastructure Energy. |
| Process Knowledge | Deep understanding of P2P O2C RTR Inventory Fixed Assets Payroll and HR processes. |
