Job Summary

Job Description

The successful candidate will research analyze review and/or compose deliverables in support of engineering design procurement and/or fabrication/construction projects. Assignments may be discipline-specific or generalist engineering tasks or a mixture. This seasonal variable-hour position is located in our Anchorage Alaska offices. While this position is intended to provide opportunity for learning and discovery its primary focus is production of engineering deliverables in conformance to the engineering execution plan for each program or project.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data such as statements of requirements proposals specifications and manuals.
  • Supports development of project scopes of work estimates and/or schedules.
  • Develops and reviews project drawings standards and specifications.
  • Assists in development of equipment material and construction specifications.
  • Uses computer-assisted software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Applies applicable codes regulations and laws under guidance of responsible engineer.
  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication operation application and installation or repair of various materials products or systems.
  • Provides technical support and information to other engineers designers and drafters.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities creativity teamwork communications operational efficiencies and analyzing and solving problems.
  • Analyzes reports maps drawings tests and photographs to plan and perform project work.
  • Assists preparation and modification of reports specifications plans construction schedules and designs for project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current candidate for Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited institution after completing at least 2.5 years of an accredited engineering degree program or candidate for an advanced engineering degree at an accredited engineering institution in any of the following or similar disciplines: Civil Chemical Controls Electrical Fire Protection Instrumentation Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
  • A strong desire to learn and produce in a flexible and challenging environment.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers clients or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of MS Word word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software.
