The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universitys missions and goals of teaching research patient care outreach and public service.

The School of Nursing APRN delivers care aligned with a defined scope of practice in 1792 maximum clinical hours in the Nurse-Midwifery Marquam Hill practice with work expectations operationalized through departmental workflows productivity standards and performance expectations consistent with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and institutional policies.

This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations of 107 12.5-hour inpatient shifts and 87.6 4-hour clinic sessions for a 1.0 FTE inclusive of days nights weekends and holiday coverage aligned with the clinical coverage model and patient care needs of the service.

The Certified Nurse-Midwife will participate in departmental scheduling processes including weekend and holiday responsibilities with scheduling practices aligned to contract provisions equitable distribution of coverage and maintenance of safe consistent clinical operations.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Activities (not assigned administrative education or research FTE):

  • Direct
    • Patient Population in the ambulatory OHSU Center for Womens Health and inpatient 12C Labor & Delivery
    • Hybrid practice area with shared practice type
    • Coverage requirements: inpatient coverage of days nights weekends and holidays; triage consults first assist at cesarean section. Ambulatory coverage includes daytime only.
    • Department specific activities: as assigned by the Practice Manager
  • Indirect:
    • Departmental and division meetings

Faculty Activities (service scholarship and research):

  • Clinical APP faculty have an expectation of advancement and activities consistent with faculty pursuits standard work.
  • Faculty pursuit opportunities specific to position:
    • OB/GYN Nurse-Midwifery Grand Rounds
    • Participation in Nurse-Midwifery Program activities
    • Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank

Other Activities (not covered above):

  • All APPs are expected to support the clinical education and research mission of OHSU through routine clinical care that includes working with students trainees and patients participating in research consistent with their role scope of practice and applicable contract and institutional policies.

Required Qualifications

Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • Instructor: MSN or equivalent
  • Assistant Professor Associate Professor Professor: PhD/DNP or equivalent

Registrations Certifications and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.):

  • Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing.
  • Current AMCB/ACNM national certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • DEA Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Experience (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • 2 years of full-scope midwifery experience in hospital setting preferred

Union Representation: This position is represented by the Oregon Nurses Association - Advance Practice United (ONA-APU) subject to the active Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent Interruptions in an environment of frequent changes and fluctuations
  • May be exposed to excessive auditory and visual stimulation.
  • May berequiredto attend out of town conferences according to School of Nursing travel and reimbursement policies.
  • May be exposed to body fluids tissuepossible radiationexposure and infectious processes.
  • Subject to computer work for several hours as needed.

Physical Demands and Equipment Usage:

  • Standing: On concrete vinyl or carpeting up to 4 hours per day and intermittently
  • Sitting: Chair or stool continuous up to 8 hours per day and intermittently
  • Changing Position: Intermittently as needed.
  • Walking: Intermittently up to 4 hours per day on concrete vinyl and carpeting
  • Carrying: Up to 50 pounds (supplies equipment books papersetc.) for intermittent periods and distances.
  • Lifting: Up to 50 pounds (patients equipment supplies booksetc.) Intermittent throughout the day
  • Pushing/Pulling: Up to 100 pounds intermittent throughout the day
  • Bending: From the waist and kneesfrequentlythroughout the day
  • Reaching/Handling: Fine manipulation repetitive gross motor requiring full ROM in upperextremities
  • including overhead reaching.
  • Twisting: All ROMrequired intermittent periods throughout the day
