POSITION: GUIDANCE COUNSELOR - MIDDLE SCHOOL

COMMENCING DATE: JULY 2026

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:

AA Certification in School Counseling Endorsement Area 436.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong human relation skills.
Good physical condition with ability to lift 10 pounds
A philosophy of school counseling which includes the providing of:

Academic leadership
Curriculum knowledge
A safe orderly and effective school climate
High performance expectations
Parent and community involvement and
A standard operation procedure that promotes two-way communications and grass roots input in the decision-making process.

Additional Preferred:

Experience as a school counselor.
Successful experience in managing a growing modern comprehensive school guidance program.

SALARY: Commensurate with the Ocean Springs salary schedule for certified positions for the 2026-2027 school year.

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 215 days - Certified/Exempt

Any person desiring to transfer within the system must adhere to School Board Policy GBE.
