Job Summary

3 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose

To deliver a high-quality responsive and multi-trade repairs service across occupied social housing properties. The role focuses on completing reactive maintenance emergency repairs and void property works within strict service timescales ensuring homes are safe compliant and fit for occupation. This is a high-volume fast-paced environment requiring proven trade competence reliability and the ability to work independently in occupied homes.




Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a wide range of multi-skilled repairs and maintenance in occupied social housing properties.
  • Respond to reactive repair requests within service deadlines:
    • Standard repairs: within 30 days
    • Emergency callouts: within 24 hours
  • Undertake works across multiple trades including:
    • Carpentry
    • Plumbing
    • Tiling
    • Plastering
    • Bricklaying
    • Fencing
    • Flooring
    • Groundworks
  • Complete void property works restoring homes to lettable standard including properties affected by poor living conditions (e.g. hoarding substance misuse environments).
  • Work safely and respectfully in tenants homes maintaining a professional approach at all times.
  • Use a company vehicle (work use only) responsibly adhering to tracking and H&S monitoring requirements.
  • Ensure all work is completed to required quality compliance and safety standards.
  • Work flexibly across a rota covering Corby Kettering and Wellingborough areas.
  • Support team coverage during absences (holiday/sickness) due to high operational demand.


Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years trade experience in a multi-skilled or core trade background.
  • Proven experience working in occupied social housing environments is essential.
  • Strong competency across multiple trades (not limited to DIY-level skills).
  • Ability to work independently in a high-pressure reactive maintenance environment.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Must be local to the operational area (Northamptonshire: Corby Kettering Wellingborough).
  • Willingness to work within a monitored company vehicle system (for H&S and usage compliance).
  • Must pass full vetting checks; previous workers only accepted if explicitly approved by the client.
  • Able to manage workload in a high-volume service environment (approx. 1500 reactive repairs per month across service area).
  • Comfortable working in challenging property conditions during void refurbishments.
  • Reliable punctual and able to commit to a 37-hour working week (MonFri varied shifts including early Friday finish).
