Job Summary
Job Title: Field Technician High Voltage Testing (NETA Certified)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Field Technician to perform high voltage electrical testing inspection and maintenance of power distribution systems. This role requires a current NETA certification and hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented comfortable working in the field and committed to maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform acceptance maintenance and troubleshooting testing on high voltage equipment including switchgear transformers circuit breakers relays and cables
- Conduct testing in accordance with NETA ATS/MTS standards and client specifications
- Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers power factor test sets relay test equipment and TDR units
- Interpret test results identify deficiencies and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Prepare detailed and accurate field service reports and documentation
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA NFPA 70E and company safety policies
- Interface with clients engineers and project managers to communicate findings and project status
- Assist with commissioning and energization procedures
- Travel to job sites as required (local and out-of-town)
Qualifications
- Current NETA Certification (Level II III or IV preferred)
- Minimum 25 years of experience in high voltage testing or related electrical field work
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and components
- Familiarity with NETA ANSI IEEE and NFPA standards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
Preferred Skills
- Experience with relay testing and protective device coordination
- OSHA 10/30 certification and NFPA 70E training
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in industrial environments including exposure to high voltage equipment
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and confined spaces when necessary
