Job Overview
This position serves as the primary operational and technical liaison between Michoud Assembly
Facility (MAF) NASA stakeholders tenant production activities and NCAM operations. The role
integrates facility operations engineering and advanced manufacturing systems to ensure mission
success operational continuity and efficient execution across IDIQ environments.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Serve as the single point of contact between tenants NASA PSSMs NCAM and facility
operations - Coordinate cross-functional resources including engineering maintenance logistics quality
construction and manufacturing - Provide oversight and coordination of NCAM activities ensuring alignment with facility
capabilities and tenant needs - Ensure funding validation and cost alignment prior to execution of work scope
- Develop and maintain operational procedures metrics and performance tracking systems
- Support IDIQ task order development execution and performance tracking
- Respond to facility outages emergent conditions and operational disruptions
- Identify efficiency improvements innovation opportunities and cost reduction strategies
Key Responsibilitites:
- Provide direct coordination and oversight of NCAM operations and integration within MAF
- Maintain working knowledge of advanced manufacturing systems including friction stir welding
(FSW) multi-axis CNC machining and large-scale fabrication systems - Interface with OEMs and technical teams supporting weld tools machining centers and automated systems
- Support troubleshooting root cause analysis and performance optimization of manufacturing systems
- Ensure proper utilization and scheduling of shared manufacturing assets
- Support validation testing and operational readiness of weld and machining systems
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation within advanced manufacturing environments
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Science Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4 years of experience in operations engineering or manufacturing environments
- Experience with advanced manufacturing systems machining or welding operations preferred
- Experience supporting government or NASA environments preferred Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for NASA badging
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Must maintain a valid drivers license
Preferred:
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing systems and industrial operations
- Ability to interface with engineering operations and OEM technical teams
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentpreferred
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in both office and industrial environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE when required
