Job Summary
As an integral member of the Toronto General Hospital-Pulmonary Function Lab the Technical Assistant plays a crucial role by conducting various pulmonary function tests. This position involves working closely with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation.
Duties
- Perform spirometry gas diffusion tests and other pulmonary function tests.
- Perform regular set up and calibration of lab equipment in line with American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society protocol.
- Instruct patients for testing and adhere to the American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society recommendations.
- Determine which test do not meet standards and document for physician interpretation.
- Participate in maintenance of standards through auditing and reporting.
- Accurately record and interpret test results.
- Work with healthcare providers to develop effective treatment plans based on test results.
Qualifications :
- . in Human Physiology Biology Kinesiology or student registry eligible for the Canadian Association of Cardio Pulmonary Technologist (CACPT).
- Knowledge of applicable laboratory policies procedures ATS guidelines protocols and practices.
- Previous experience working with patients in a hospital or clinic environment preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
