Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking a Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the development and integration of interior systems with a focus on hard trim and overhead components. This role is responsible for driving product development from concept through production ensuring quality performance and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented engineer with strong CAD experience a systems mindset and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and integration of interior components including hard trim and overhead systems
- Manage product lifecycle activities including:
- Requirements definition
- Design execution
- Testing and validation
- Develop and maintain CAD models and product definitions using 3D/2D design tools
- Manage part release and change control processes including bill of materials (BOM) updates and configuration management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering manufacturing quality purchasing and suppliers
- Ensure designs meet requirements for fit finish ergonomics safety and performance
- Conduct dimensional analysis including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
- Support manufacturing feasibility reviews and resolve design and build issues
- Apply structured problem-solving methods to address quality and design c

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in product development or design engineering
- Experience working with interior components or similar engineered systems
Required Skills
- CAD & Product Definition:
- Proficiency in NX or similar CAD tools
- Strong understanding of 3D/2D design and component interfaces
- Release & Change Management:
- Experience with BOM management part release and engineering change processes
- Dimensional Engineering & Problem Solving:
- Knowledge of GD&T tolerance stack-ups and manufacturing feasibility
- Experience resolving fit finish and ergonomic issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with injection molded or compression molded components
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g. DFSS Red-X)
- Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA
- Previous experience in a Design Release Engineer (DRE) role
