Position Summary

The Art Advisor supports and mentors students in developing artistic skills and preparing artwork for regional and state competition. The advisor assists students in refining artistic techniques organizing submissions and coordinating artistic expression and student growth in the visual arts.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Student Instruction and Mentorship

  • Provide guidance and support students in developing artistic techniques and creative expression.
  • Mentor students in preparing artwork for regional and state competitions.
  • Encourage student exploration of various artistic medica techniques and styles.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support artistic growth and improvement.

Competition Preparation and Coordination

  • Assist students in selecting and preparing artwork for submission to competitions and exhibitions.
  • Coordinate participation in regional and state competitions.
  • Ensure artwork meets competition guidelines deadlines and submission requirements.
  • Supervise and support students during competitions exhibition and related events.

Program Organization and Events

  • Organize meetings work sessions or studio time to support student preparation for competitions.
  • Assist with school art displays showcases or exhibitions that highlight student work.
  • Encourage student participation in art-related activities and competitions.

Administration and Collaboration

  • Maintain records of student participation artwork submissions and competition results.
  • Communicate with students parents/guardians and administration regarding schedules expectations and events.
  • Collaborate with art teachers and staff to support student participation in competitions and art-related programs.
  • Assist with coordinating transportation or logistics for competitions and events when applicable.

Other Duties

  • Attend meetings clinics and professional development as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree required; Bachelors Degree in Education preferred.
  • Previous experience in teaching art preferred.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of artistic techniques media and visual arts principles.
  • Knowledge of student art competitions and submission processes.
  • Ability to mentor and guide students in artistic development and creative expression.
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students parents/guardians staff and administration.
  • Ability to promote a safe inclusive and academically focused environment.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand walk and move throughout classroom or studio environments.
  • Ability to lift carry and set up art materials supplies or displays as needed.
  • Ability to supervise students safely during meetings competitions and events.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

  • Classroom studio or exhibition environments.
  • Evening and weekend hours required for practices meetings and competitions.
  • Travel required for competitions.
