Job Summary

Purpose of the role

The purpose of this post is to:

  • To provide manage and develop a comprehensive healthcare library and information service to support clinical educational research staff and students based in Childrens Health Ireland.
  • To have a leadership role in steering and developing present library information and knowledge services and the future merger and integration of services in Childrens Health Ireland.

Essential Criteria

  • Honours Primary Degree and Masters or other Postgraduate Qualification in Library and Information Studies or an equivalent qualification in Librarianship as recognised by the Library Association of Ireland
  • At least 3 years post qualification experience in a health sciences library specialist or academic library
  • Experience of core library standards and practices
  • Knowledge and experience of Library Management Systems Electronic resources and digital platforms
  • Experience annual service planning e.g subscriptions contract renewals.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively and to manage the service as it transitions to the New Childrens Hospital
  • Excellent communication skills to lead the team and to liaise with groups within the organisation.
  • Experience of managing a staff team
