PURPOSE

We are seeking a career-minded individual to teach Spanish starting in August of 2026. The ideal candidate will be a certified teacher with a demonstrated ability to teach in a college preparatory environment. The teacher will work in a structured and collaborative environment with other teachers who are committed to the formation of each student according to the principles of the Grad at Grad: Open to Growth Intellectually Competent Religious Committed to Doing Justice and Loving.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and teach five sections of Spanish likely with two preps which may include advanced placement and dual credit ocurses pending certification.
• Collaborate with department and school colleagues in the ongoing curriculum design and review process.
• Communicate regularyly with students parents school counselors and administrators about student progress.
• Participate actively in the schools co-curricular and spiritual activities

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in Spanish or related field (Masters preferred)
• Previous Spanish teaching experience.
• Experience with teaching for language acquisition and proficiency or desire to join the shared department goal of teaching for proficiency.
• Clear understanding of and commitment to Rockhurst High Schools mission
• Student-focused approach to learning which includes a desire to build positive relationships that are characterized by mutual respect and trust.
• Strong understanding of current educational theory and practice.
• Ability to incorporate a range of instructional approaches including discussion-based project-based and inquiry-based approaches.
• Experience with a range of educational technologies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand sit and move around the classroom and building.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
• Sufficient vision hearing and manual dexterity to use computers phones and office equipment and to participate in meetings and student interactions
• Ability to communicate clearly in person in writing and in group presentations.
• Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for school events student or parents programs.
