Job Summary
2 News is looking for an upper-level broadcast or journalism student looking to make the transition into the world of TV news! The part-time paid internship is available through the Ohio Association of Broadcasters and is ideal for students interested in practical experience in broadcast and/or digital journalism.
The ideal candidate has taken journalism and writing classes and is interested in learning more about the broadcast world. Experience with collegiate TV production is not necessary but great if you have it! Previous experience with print-based journalism is also a plus.
The position is located in Dayton Ohio and could include weekends evenings or early mornings.
Internship Details:
- Each internship is for 20 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks
- Will be well supervised and participate in a meaningful learning experience
- Will include working with multiple team members to learn many different skills in the newsroom including writing for broadcast and digital shooting and editing video producing newscasts working toward putting content on the air
Requirements & Skills:
- Must be at least 18 years of age a legal resident of Ohio and enrolled at an accredited post-secondary school in Ohio.
- Must be a college junior/senior with multiple journalism classes already completed
- Expected to work 2-3 shifts per week hours may vary
- A collaborative worker with a willingness to learn
- Fluent in English
- Collegiate experience in news writing is required; can include AP Style writing for college newspaper script writing for broadcast or related assignment
- Must have own transportation
Upon completion of the internship the student will be evaluated by the internship supervisor and be asked to write a brief summary of the internship experience.
Pay: $15.00 Hourly
